Salt Lake is located at the intersection of the states of Akarsay, Konya and Ankara, the largest colony of flamingo birds in the Mediterranean basin.
It is also called the Bird’s Paradise, because it contains many types of birds.
The Salt Lake has a spectacular nature, various types of birds and many species of wild grasses of the region, listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a part of the World Heritage List of 2013.
“The lake is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the country,” said Mustapha Dogan, director of culture and tourism in the province of Akarsay, central Turkey.
He pointed out that the lake lies in the middle of the Anatolian plains, and is considered a bird’s paradise, which includes colonies of flamingo birds and owls.
He also pointed to the importance of the lake for Flamingo birds in particular, which is one of the largest hatching areas of their own.
The Salt Lake hosts the largest flamingo colony in the Mediterranean basin, where tens of thousands of birds migrate and thousands of birds are spawned every year.
Thousands of females lay eggs in the Eskil region of the province of Aksrai in particular.
He added that the lake was classified as a reserved nature area, and it includes a colony of owls, as well as being the meeting point of many other migrating bird species.
He also added that the salt lake and its surroundings contain many types of herbs and plants of the region, along with many wild animals.
He said that the tourist attraction on the lake has increased significantly in recent years, as it became part of the tours of the region of Cappadocia.
Tourists can participate in many activities such as hiking, running, and observing the different types of birds, as well as taking natural photos.
In this regard, year after year, visitors to the lake are increasing because of its advantages, which are visited by tourists coming to the area of Cappadocia and participating in hiking trips.
