Dr. Mourad Oyar, a member of the International Council of Ophthalmology, said that Turkey has become the first choice for many countries in the field of medical tourism, especially in the field of ophthalmology.
Oyar added that his country has many advantages which made it one of the most important countries in the medical field. It has the quality of health care at the global level using advanced technological and medical equipment.
It also has an important geographical position as a bridge between Asia and Europe, as well as its favorable prices compared with European countries.
“There is no need for visa requirements for many countries, as well as easy access to visas for some countries through the e-Visa system,” he said.
He pointed out that most of the arrivals to Turkey for treatment are from Germany, France, Britain and the Netherlands, as well as the countries of the Middle East and Africa.
Turkey’s medical tourism imports in 2018 amounted to 1.5 billion US dollars, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pledged to make Turkey a brand in medical tourism.
